THIS WEEK AT VRC

Greetings Villalobos Village!
AND THE MOVE BEGINS!

Moving our kennels
We began moving our kennel buildings out of New Orleans today. As you can see here, it is quite a process, and special equipment is needed.
Unfortunately, the move became necessary after our network was sold and all of the shows on Animal Planet were dropped. Donations dwindled and we could no longer afford the expenses that it took to pay rent and utilities on this amazingly huge building.
So we are consolidating, and we will remain at our other Louisiana location in Assumption Parish. When the going gets tough, the tough have to get...tougher đď¸

Our dogs love their goody bags from their virtual adopters.
In other news, our virtual adopter program continues to grow! Zippy, Posey, Onion AND Dutton all have virtual adopters! Woohoo! Our virtual adopters are so kind, theyâre even starting to send goody bags. The dogs love them! There are now 9 dogs from the West Virginia location available for the virtual adopter program. If you are interested in virtually adopting one of the West Virginia pups, or at any other VRC location you can get more information by emailing: [email protected]
Keep scrolling đď¸ to see updates from our Texas and West Virginia locations this week. Together, we'll keep wagging those tails and changing lives.
Slobbers and Drools,
Tia Torres

THE ADOPTABLES

Poncho
Meet 11-year-old Poncho. Poncho has been waiting too long for a family of his own. He is just so sweet and innocent. He loves to play fetch and he is very good at it!! He just wants to hang with his person, go for car rides, walks, and call it a day. He doesnât react to other dogs but he isnât interested in having a doggie roommate. Kids 10 and up would be best for this gentleman now that heâs ready for retirement! He deserves to live out his golden years in a home. Click below to fill out an application!

VRC SPONSOR PROGRAM
CAIN NEEDS A SPONSOR
One word to describe this guyâŚBAD DOG! đ Of course I mean that in the comical sense. Cain is a mixture of Bart Simpson and Dennis the Menace which is why heâs been difficult to adopt out. We tried once but he got returned rather quickly. Heâs just âcomplicatedâ so he will remain here with us where in our eyesâŚhe is perfection.
Want to adopt a dog, but for one reason or another, youâre unable? Rather than a typical adoption, we also offer virtual adoptions through our Sponsor Program. You can sponsor Nymeria, Cutie Pie or any of our amazing dogs in this program.
VRC dog sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia.

TEXAS SANCTUARY

Fixing the fence
From Texas Manager Amy: Welcome to spring in Texas. We have had quite a few storms lately here in Texas and as usual with the storms comes some sort of clean up. Luckily, we didnât have any major damage this time, just some downed trees on fences to clean up etc.

Koda
On a brighter note, Koda had his yearly vet visit. He got a clean bill of health and was such a good boy.

WEST VIRGINIA WAYSTATION

So thankful for our WVa Virtual Apopters!
From Prison Dog Program Manager Dani: In an issue of the newsletter a while back I mentioned how there had been a whirlwind of activity up here in the mountains of West Virginia, all the way to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. Turns out I spoke too soon! So far during the month of April we have definitely had a whirlwind ... of weather! April 2nd West Virginia saw a record-breaking amount of tornadoes touch down. An EF2 touched down about 20 minutes away from the kennels in one direction, and an EF1 landed about 30 minutes away in another. Debbie, who was briefly out from a Louisiana location, said she watched the storm rolling in, and right as it was about to hit the kennels, it was like the sky opened up and was clear, and then resumed on the other side of the kennels, leaving us untouched, with nothing more than a power outage.
All the way from Louisiana to our prison program in Pennsylvania, Chuckie, Olaf, Yelena and Crop Top arrived safely and are settling in, making themselves at home! Each of them has already made progress, have learned a few new commands, and even a couple tricks! Don't forget about the fluffy hunk Wawkalak and the smooth talkin' Crowley, who are also still in the program! All six of these cuties are eagerly awaiting a furever home of their own!
