Issue #24

THIS WEEK AT VRC
Greetings Villalobos Village!
We’re looking for kennel attendants to join our team!
Your day will be filled with cleaning kennels, keeping the dogs' living areas tidy, and best of all—spending quality time walking, playing, and bonding with them. If you love dogs, this is the job for you!
But don't be fooled by all the puppy love—this is physically demanding work, so be ready to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.
We also have limited free housing available for those who qualify, but spots are going fast! This opportunity is at our Assumption Parish, Louisiana location.
Ready to make a difference? For more info or to apply, email us at: [email protected].
@villalobosrescue Our Assumption Parish will be opening to the public soon! #villalobosrescuecenter #pitbullsandparolees #assumptionparish
Content Warning:
In this week’s VRC Sponsor Program Spotlight, we’re featuring a sweet cat, Marigny, an employee rescued who was found missing a portion of her face, which may be upsetting for some readers. Rescue work isn’t pretty most of the time, and this is the reality that comes with saving animals the world seems to have forgotten. It’s important to us to raise awareness and help cover her medical needs, but we understand that not everyone may want to see her picture. If you’d prefer not to view it, we kindly ask that you scroll past the sponsor program spotlight that follows the two adoptable profiles below. Thank you for supporting our mission to help every animal, no matter their challenges.
Slobbers and Drools,
Tia Torres
THE ADOPTABLES

Mimzy
Meet Mimzy, a 2.5-year-old lab/pit mix who is as sweet as they come! She loves meeting new people and is always ready to make a new friend. Mimzy is the perfect cuddle companion, enjoying snuggle sessions on the couch while watching TV. Plus, she's crate trained, making her an easy fit for any home. If you're looking for a friendly and loving companion, Mimzy might just be the perfect match!

Remington
Meet Remington, a 9-year-old Shepherd mix who enjoys the simple life. Remy is a calm, laid-back guy who just needs a human and a comfy couch to call his own. While he prefers not to share his space with other animals, he’ll be your most loyal companion for the rest of his days. If you're seeking a devoted friend who loves to cuddle, Remy could be the one you've been waiting for!

VRC SPONSOR PROGRAM

Marigny
MARIGNY NEEDS A SPONSOR
SHE HAS NO FACE, BUT HER HEART SPEAKS VOLUMES. We were in the right place at the right time. One of our employees had walked to the Dollar General in the Marigny area of New Orleans. As he walked through the parking lot, he heard a little "voice" crying out to him. And there she was.
Her injuries were apparent and, at a glance, quite shocking to take in. But it was her little "mew mew" that melted our employee's heart, and he immediately called for another employee to come with a crate.
She is now receiving medical treatment for many things, including how emaciated she is. We don't know who or what ripped her face off, but despite her obvious physical pain, all she wanted was someone to hold her, and then they heard her "gratitude"....the purring began.
"Marigny" has a long road to recovery and we hope someday that she will be up for adoption. Until then if anyone would like to join our sponsorship program and sponsor her, we would appreciate any help towards her medical expenses.

VRC dog sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia.
HAVE YOU HEARD AT VRC?
We’ve never done this before!
Every single piece of merch we have is on sale—honestly, it’s barely over cost. But we need to make a payment on our vet bill, and we know times are tough for everyone. If you can spare anything, we have two online stores to check out:
Our regular VRC Store: VRC Store
Our online thrift & vintage store: VRC Vintage
If merch isn’t your thing but you still want to help with our vet bills, you can donate here: Donate for Vet Bills. Just make sure to put “vet bills” in the comments.
Please help us make the next payment toward our vet bill—every penny counts. The dogs (and humans) of VRC truly appreciate any support!

New Episode of VRC Kids!
Check out the latest episode of VRC Kids on Villalobos’ Facebook page! This new program features the kiddos of VRC as they showcase adoptable dogs and share what it's like growing up in the world of animal care. In this episode, the kids hang out with Lavender, our playful, sweet, and loving pit bull who adores children. Don’t miss it—head over to Facebook to watch and help us raise awareness for adoptable dogs like Lavender!
HAPPILY FUR-EVER AFTER SPOTLIGHT
Joan hit the jackpot when she was adopted from VRC by Rebecca and Ruth, longtime supporters and proud owners of a Civil War museum. It was love at first sight, and Joan wasted no time making herself right at home. She adores her collection of stuffed animals. When Rebecca is away, Joan has a playful habit of stealing her sneakers to keep from missing Rebecca too much. At the museum, Joan takes her role as the official greeter very seriously—welcoming every visitor with a happy tail wag, a big smile, and a silent request for belly rubs. Rebecca and Ruth can’t resist spoiling her, and Joan happily soaks up all the love and attention, knowing she’s found her forever place in their hearts and home. Whether she’s lounging in her bed of toys or greeting guests, Joan has everyone wrapped around her paw!
