THE ADOPTABLES
Imelda
Meet Imelda, a spirited and playful companion who’s always ready for a game of tug-of-war! Her perky personality shines brightest around kids, but she prefers to be the only pet in your life. This clever girl is deaf and knows some sign language, using her remarkable ability to read facial and body expressions to connect with her people. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, one-of-a-kind best friend, [Dog's Name] is ready to bring joy and excitement to your home!
Bargain

True to her Boxer roots, she greets excitement with a full-body butt wiggle that’s impossible not to love. Bargain gets along well with calmer dogs but isn’t interested in playtime—she’s mature and ready to embrace retirement. If you’re looking for a sweet and loving companion, Bargain would make a wonderful addition to your family!

VRC SPONSOR PROGRAM
Knox
KNOX NEEDS A SPONSOR
Knox is a purebred Plott Hound whose gentle and goofy personality didn’t fit his previous owner’s expectations as a hunting dog. Bullied by other dogs and deemed "too sweet" for the job, Knox arrived at Villalobos Rescue Center shy and unsure of himself. Now living with Tia Torres, he’s gaining confidence, discovering the joys of indoor life, and learning that other dogs can be friends. Though still a bit reserved, Knox loves the comfort of his crate, enjoys TV time, and rarely barks—making him a quiet, lovable companion.
Knox is looking for a home with a calm and polite dog who can help him feel at ease or a family ready to let him blossom at his own pace. While he continues building trust and socialization skills, you can support him by sending goodies from his Amazon wishlist, which also helps fund the rescue. Let’s help Knox on his journey to the loving home he truly deserves!
VRC dog sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲: 𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤
Jenny’s journey with animals is one of passion, perseverance, and profound connection. From her earliest memories of saving birds from her childhood cats to her current role at Villalobos Rescue Center, she’s always been drawn to helping animals in need. With over a decade of experience, Jenny has become an integral part of the VRC team, dedicating her life to the care and rehabilitation of both dogs and cats.

“I’ve always had a love for animals,” Jenny shares. Growing up with cats, she bought her first dog at 16 and spent countless hours riding and caring for horses. “I always knew I wanted to be around animals, but I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up—still don’t, honestly!”
Jenny’s journey with Villalobos began in 2012, when she volunteered for the first Bully Bootcamp after seeing a post from Tia. She later joined the 2013 internship program. “Before heading home, I told Tia I wouldn’t mind living in the warehouse. A couple of months later, she offered me a job. I’ve been here ever since.”

“Currently, I live and take care of a house full of dogs. I’m also responsible for overseeing the cats at VRC—handling their intake, medical needs, transports, and adoptions.” Jenny also assists wherever needed, from rescues to medical care, supporting M2 and the rest of the team. She officially joined the team on July 15, 2013.
𝐐: 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞?
Jenny credits her hands-on experience for her knowledge. “I’ve learned everything from watching those around me—Tia, Louise, Lizzy, Colin, Elise, and so many others. Plus, the patience and techniques I developed working with horses have been invaluable.”
𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛?
“Watching animals that come in scared or very sick blossom before your eyes,” Jenny says. She fondly recalls Carmella, a timid bully who transformed with time and patience. “At first, we had to carry her outside because she was so scared. Slowly, she started exploring on her own, and one night, she walked all the way around the building. Seeing her conquer her fears was incredible.”
𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤?
Jenny’s connection to animals began early, from rescuing birds her cats would bring home to dreaming of saving wild mustangs as a child. “Helping animals is just in my blood,” she explains.

“Knowing your personal limits is key. It’s okay to take animals to a shelter with more resources if you can’t care for them yourself.” Jenny also encourages people not to overlook shy animals. “Watching them blossom and learn to trust is amazing.”
𝐐: 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭?
“Community outreach is underrated. So many people love their pets but just need education and support. Sometimes, it’s as simple as providing food or fixing a fence.”
𝐐: 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧?
Jenny’s current companions are Smokey Lonesome and Beretta Blue, dogs she inherited from her late friend Colin. She also has fond memories of Brownee, a once-shy dog who had a transformative moment at his dads, Mr. Murray’s grave. “After that visit, he was a different dog. Though still shy, he started warming up to people much faster.”
𝐐: 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡?
“I have a soft spot for retrievers—just don’t tell my bosses,” she jokes. Jenny also loves helping shy animals and scared cats. “Watching them go from terrified to asking for affection is wild.”
𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞?
Jenny has countless memorable moments but highlights Rollo, a wolfdog who overcame years of fear to find joy with his best friend, Klaus. “Now they live together at our wolf sanctuary in Texas, playing for hours every day. As much as I loved Rollo, I couldn’t keep him from Klaus. He’s in the best place for him.”
𝐐: 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞?
“Probably a Shiba Inu,” Jenny laughs. “I’m loyal to my people, but I don’t like being around too many others. Plus, Shibas are basically cats at heart!”
𝐐: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐲?
Jenny enjoys relaxing with her dogs and unwinding to YouTube, Twitch, or “some good trash TV.” She also reminisces about stargazing with Rollo on her picnic table, sharing quiet moments under the night sky.
𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞
Her work at Villalobos is more than a job—it’s a calling. Whether she’s helping shy dogs find their confidence, caring for cats in need, or fostering community understanding, her dedication shines through. “Helping animals is what I was meant to do,” she says, and every animal she touches is living proof of that.
