Issue # 25

THIS WEEK AT VRC
SQUASHING THE RUMORS
This is our FORMER location on N. Claiborne Ave in New Orleans. We have been out of it for around 2 years.
It has been brought to my attention that a rumor has been spread that we abandoned a group of dogs here because "barking can be heard inside the building." If this is true, then more than likely it is some street people living inside with their dogs. New Orleans has a HUGE streetlife community that travel with their dogs.
That all being said, in about a month we will be completely moved out of New Orleans and the only dog rescue location that we will have will be in Assumption Parish, Louisiana and of course, our wolfdog sanctuary in Texas.
I hope this clears up any confusion and stops those horrible rumors. And yes...we are sad to see the location we once called "home" sitting like this. But with donations at an all-time low and intake at an all-time high, we needed to consolidate.
NO DOG LEFT BEHIND.

THE ADOPTABLES

Imelda
Almost 5 years old, Imelda is a deaf dog with a huge personality that will keep you laughing. She’s great with kids but needs to be the only pet. Imelda knows some sign language and loves car rides, playing with a ball, and splashing in water. If you're looking for a fun and loyal companion, Imelda is ready to bring joy to your home!

Armstrong
Armstrong, a 3.5-year-old pit bull, came to VRC in rough shape but has since blossomed into a healthy, happy, and calm sweetheart. He might enjoy the company of another mellow dog, but compatibility is key. With his gentle nature, Armstrong would be a loving addition to a peaceful home where he can relax and soak up all the affection he deserves. Ready for his forever family, Armstrong is eager to start this next chapter!

VRC SPONSOR PROGRAM

Atkins
ATKINS NEEDS A SPONSOR
Meet Atkins, the newest member of our sponsorship program. His story is filled with so many ups and downs that I had to share the full version in a video on his profile page. And to be honest, I downplayed it—reliving all the details still brings back a lot of anger.
The short version? Atkins had been with us for years, and last year, he finally found what we thought was his forever home. But when his adopters decided to abandon him in the middle of their divorce, they put us through hell to get him back. It was heartbreaking.
Now, Atkins is living with me, and he's the perfect gentleman. Sadly, he’s become incontinent, which means he has special needs, including items from his Amazon Storefront wishlist. He’s not much into toys or treats—his only real interest is in human attention, which I split between him and the other hounds in my care. But with his incontinence, I’m doing a lot of Atkins’ laundry, and any support through his wishlist would mean the world to both of us. When you order from our Amazon Storefront, not only does Atkins receive the items he needs, but we also earn a commission, so it’s a double win.
I still hold out hope that one day Atkins will find someone who truly appreciates him. We thought we got it right the first time, but we failed him. The least I can do is show him that he hasn’t been forgotten, and with your help, we can make sure he continues to feel loved and cared for.

HAVE YOU HEARD AT VRC?
THANK YOU TO ALL THE DONATED!
Paper towels are one of our biggest needs, and with just one Facebook post, you all came through for us!
If you’d like to continue supporting our dogs, please check out our new Amazon Storefront. When you purchase items through the storefront, not only do our dogs get much-needed supplies, but the rescue also earns a commission to help us keep going!
We’re still building the platform and adding more items every day. Your generosity truly means the world to us, but it's important to remember that donations are the lifeblood of non-profits like ours. Every little bit helps us care for these amazing dogs.
Thank you for your continued support!

COUNTRY CORNER
From Assumption Parish Location Manager M2:
We are getting close to completing the move of all our city dogs from New Orleans to our new Assumption Parish location—a transition that is bittersweet but ultimately best for the dogs. Our team is hard at work cleaning, organizing, and ensuring each dog has a comfortable space to settle in. It’s an exciting change for everyone, and we can’t wait to share updates on how the dogs are adjusting and the improvements we’ve been working on to make this new home a special place for them. Stay tuned for more on this next chapter!
