Two Of Our Prison Dogs Are Waiting For Forever Homes

PRISON DOG: Droup

Meet Droup, a happy-go-lucky goofball who’s full of love and always ready for fun. He gets along great with other dogs and tends to be the more submissive one during play. Think of him like a toddler—always on the go, full of energy, and constantly seeking attention from his people. Droup has no issues with resource guarding, whether it’s with dogs or humans, and he’s just as happy chewing on a bone as he is chasing after a squeaky toy or ball.

He’s fully crate trained, but he truly lights up when he’s out of the crate and surrounded by people. Droup has completed basic obedience training and even knows how to fetch his leash and bring it to you when it’s time for a walk. He’s incredibly loyal and forms strong bonds with his people. On leash, he walks beautifully and is light in hand, although he does have a high prey drive and may pull if he spots something exciting to chase. So no cats or small animals for this hunk.

Adopt Droup by applying here: https://www.vrcpitbull.com/dogs/droup/

Spears is one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs. She doesn’t need a million toys or constant activity, she just needs you. Someone who’ll love her, guide her, and let her be the affectionate, loyal girl she’s meant to be.

She gets along well with other dogs and has never shown any issues with food or toy guarding. Spears adores her people ( Gentle and appropriate with kids) and would spend every minute by your side if she could. She warms up slowly to strangers, especially men, but once she trusts you, she’ll be your biggest fan.

She’s fantastic in a home environment, no chewing up your shoes or destroying your furniture. Spears knows all her basic commands and some fun ones too—like “play dead”! She can even follow nonverbal cues. Fully crate trained and a calm passenger in the car.

⚠️ Heads Up: Spears is a high jumper and super fast! She may be able to clear a 5ft fence, especially if it has footholds—so secure fencing or leash walks are a must.
While she’s confident in familiar settings, Spears can be cautious around new or strange objects (like mops, guitars, squeegees). But with time and patience—like she’s had in our Prison Dog Program in PA—she works through it beautifully.

Frisbee

Frisbee is a 2 year old Catahoula mix that is pure fun wrapped in fur! She’s wild, wiggly, and always up for the next adventure. Frisbee would happiest in an active home where she can run, explore, and burn off all that happy energy.

While she’s a total people-lover, Frisbee isn’t a fan of most other dogs—so she needs to be your one and only. Trust us, she has more than enough personality to fill your whole house!

She’s also a big fan of water, loves her toys, and will keep you laughing with her goofy antics. If you’ve been looking for a spirited sidekick who’s always ready to go, Frisbee is your girl.

Panuk

This 1-year-old husky boy is a total heart-stealer! He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he warms up, you’ll see his playful, silly, full-of-life husky personality shine.

Panuk LOVES other dogs and really needs a canine sibling in his forever home to show him the ropes and be his best buddy. His favorite pastime? Anything involving water! If he doesn’t have a pool to splash in, he’ll happily dunk his legs into his water bucket just to feel that cool refreshment.

Once he’s comfortable, Panuk’s goofy side comes out in full force—zoomies, play bows, and plenty of that classic husky sass included. He’s ready for a family who will embrace his quirks, keep him active, and give him all the love he deserves.

She may be in her golden years, but don’t let that fool you — this girl is full of sass, goof, and heart. Breakfast loves people, thrives on cuddles, and is especially great with kids — always gentle, always respectful. House manners? Check. Perfect car buddy? Double check. She’ll ride shotgun with her head out the window, ears flapping in the breeze, just living her best life.

Derby

Derby is a happy, golden-hearted senior who absolutely adores people. He’s a wonderful walking buddy with great leash manners, and he’ll happily trot by your side for a stroll around the neighborhood.

He’s looking for a home without other pets—Derby prefers to have all your love and attention to himself. While he can be a little anxious in new situations or during storms, he finds comfort in his cozy crate, snuggled into a pile of blankets with a frozen Kong… or curled up next to you for a Netflix night.

This sweet boy is a dream travel companion—he loves car rides and never says no to a quick trip through the Starbucks drive-through for a pup cup.

Derby is virtually adopted and part of our Senior Dog Program, which means not only is his adoption fee already covered, but his medical care will be covered for the rest of his life by the rescue.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will be your shadow and your best friend, Derby is ready to move in and make every day a little brighter.

Crane

Crane is a people-loving pup who truly shines when she’s with her favorite humans. She adores cuddle time, leisurely walks, and car rides with the windows down and the breeze on her face. If you’re looking for a laid-back buddy who still enjoys life’s simple joys, Crane is your girl.

She would do best as the only pet in the home—she wants all the love for herself! In return, she’ll give you her whole heart. During storms, Crane may get a little nervous, but all she needs is someone to sit with her, remind her she’s safe, and give her the comfort she craves.

She is Virtually Adopted (adoption fee covered) and is apart of our Senior Dog Program!

VRC SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

At Villalobos Rescue Center, we are dedicated to provide lifelong care and love to dogs and cats that face significant medical or behavioral challenges , making them unlikely candidates for adoption. Our Sponsorship Program offers a meaningful way for our supporters to contribute to the well-being of these “lifers” through monthly donations. While becoming a sponsor, you help us with the essential care, as well as medical costs.

VRC dog sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia, Katie & Jenna.

Barney & Biscuit

Meet Biscuit & Barney – Brothers for Life

Biscuit and Barney first came into our lives back in 2018. Barney was briefly adopted, but returned when his anxiety and behaviors made it difficult to adjust in a home. Both brothers struggle with severe anxiety and can be a bit creative (read: destructive!) when left to their own devices, which makes finding the right forever home a real challenge. That’s why these two spirited boys are part of our Sponsorship Program — where they get the care, structure, and love they need every single day with their amazing care giver Tammi.

When they’re not hanging out together, you can usually find them overlooking the swamp, nose in the air, and their voices echoing through the trees. Barney has also made a best buddy in his housemate, Gordy (who is an adoptable senior!), and the two love a good couch snuggle between adventures.

By sponsoring Biscuit and Barney, you’re helping us provide everything from vet care to enrichment toys and treats. They also love blankets and a good ole stuffed bone to chew on.

COMING SOON TO OUR SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM…..

Introducing… Dixon

You may have heard the name before — yes, that Dixon. The one who’s been caught on Tia’s lives, mid-argument, holding his own like a pro.

Dixon first caught Tia’s attention in the Dixon Prison, where he completely catfished her with those heartbreakingly sad eyes and model-prisoner behavior. Once he arrived back in the swamps, we learned the truth: behind that soulful gaze is a big personality who knows exactly how to work a room (and push a few of Tia’s buttons).

Now, Dixon is officially joining our Sponsorship Program. With your support, we can make sure this charming troublemaker driving Tia nuts gets the love, care, and enrichment he needs (and so Tia can catch a break even if its for a moment) while living his very best life here at the rescue.

Stay tuned….

Dixon

Some hearts bloom in an instant, rushing toward affection like a river spilling over its banks. Others, like Dewey and Marca unfold slowly—delicate, hesitant, as if waiting for the world to prove itself worthy of their trust.

They were born of this land, our “Village of the Wolves” their spirits woven into the fabric of the Texas sanctuary long before it was truly theirs. But where others found their footing in time

Dewey, He had been wary once, his heart guarded, his trust not given freely. But time has a way of casting its own kind of spell, and in its slow and patient magic, Dewey began to soften. He learned that love was safest when offered from the neck up—a compromise between his wild past and the warmth of human hands. And beside him, Marca, ever-watchful, began to change as well.

Together, Dewey and Marca are proof that healing is not always grand, not always loud. Sometimes, it is found in the smallest of victories—a glance held for a moment longer, a step taken without fear, the quiet understanding that not all hands are meant to harm.

Their magic is subtle, but it is there. And in time, it has turned fear into trust, distance into companionship, and the ghosts of their past into something softer, something lighter, something free.

🐱 Sponsor a Kajun Kitty
Right now, we have about 10 special cats in our Sponsorship Program—our beloved Kajun Kitties. These are kitties who need a little extra care, love, and support while they’re with us.

But did you know? Hundreds of cats come through our rescue every year, each with their own story and needs. By sponsoring a Kajun Kitty, you help provide medical care, food, comfort, and a safe place to land—not just for them, but for all the cats who will follow in their pawprints.

🚨 New Kajun Kitten Alert!

Say hello to Zooey! One of our newest Kajun Kittens. This sweet baby is only about 5 weeks old and already has quite the survival story. One of our employees, Nicole, got a call from a neighbor who heard meowing coming from under their house. Nicole didn’t hesitate and she crawled right under there and found this tiny kitten, scared and injured.

Zooey had road rash on her face and needed a couple of stitches, so we suspect she may have fallen out of a moving car, possibly hitching an accidental ride in a wheel well or engine area, which sadly isn’t uncommon. 💔But this girl? She’s a fighter with a heart full of sweetness.

She’s already healing well and is expected to make a full recovery!

This mama cat showed up at a woman’s house a while ago. She wasn’t “owned,” but the woman fed her. She stuck around. And then, like most un-spayed female cats will do… she started having litter after litter under the house. Her most recent litter of three kittens became sick and developed ringworm. The woman helped the kittens—they received medical care, were fixed, and she gave them a home.

But Asha? No one wanted Asha. She was trapped Wednesday morning, and the vet was called with the question: “What do I do with her?” So we stepped in.

The issue? Asha is scared. She might be feral. And our adoption and transport options are limited to cats deemed adoptable. The feral ones? They stay behind.

The woman won’t take her back, so even though she would be TNRed, that leaves her with nowhere to go.

We don’t yet know what the future holds for Asha. But we do know this, we’ll give her a chance. Even when no one else would

For now we are adding Asha to our Kajun Kitty sponsorship in hopes that while she unwinds and learns to trust us, that she can also feel the love and support from our amazing supporters.
