Happy Friday, Swampton fam!

It’s been one of those weeks. The kind where you collapse at the end of the day knowing real work got done and real lives were changed. Tuesday hit the ground running when Mariah (M2) was immediately slammed with 11 new dogs walking through our gates. Then Wednesday said, “Hold my leash,” and added another 7.

Thankfully, adoption applications have been coming in steady, and M2 and Lizzy have been working their matchmaking magic—pairing the right dogs with the right families and keeping the momentum going. 

It’s been busy, it’s been intense, and it’s been full of heart.

A NEW CHAPTER….
VILLALOBOS HEALING CENTER

The dream of an animal community center, free spay/neuter, free heartworm prevention/treatment clinic is finally coming to fruition.
Once a place where grief and love walked hand in hand, this former funeral home held the quiet strength of people gathering to say their final farewells—tears falling, prayers whispered, and love spoken one last time.
It was a sacred space of remembrance, where sorrow was born from devotion and loss from deep connection. Now, those same walls are being reborn with purpose and promise. Where love once said goodbye, it will now say "stay."
This building will become an animal community center dedicated to saving lives, healing broken spirits, and restoring trust—bringing hope not only to the animals of Assumption Parish, but to the human families who walk alongside them.
What was once a place of parting will now be a place of reunion, mercy, and second chances—a spiritual transformation where love never left, it simply changed its mission.

M2 (Mariah) will oversee the Villalobos Healing Center, as this has also been her dream come true.
We thank the donor who made this possible, and may she rest in paradise, knowing that her departure has enabled us to breathe more life into the animals of Assumption Parish, Louisiana.

Chanel is still looking for a forever home. She has been in her foster home for awhile now, and is absolutely perfect in the house. She is shy when meeting new people, but once she trusts you, it’s over. 🙂 You have a new bestie.
She would do best in a home with calm dogs, that don’t want to do a lot of playing. She enjoys lounging and co-existing.

She is Virtually Adopted, so her adoption fee is covered.

At Villalobos Rescue Center, we are dedicated to provide lifelong care and love to dogs and cats that face significant medical or behavioral challenges , making them unlikely candidates for adoption. Our Sponsorship Program offers a meaningful way for our supporters to contribute to the well-being of these “lifers” through monthly donations. While becoming a sponsor, you help us with the essential care, as well as medical costs.

At 11 ½ years old, Wolfgang has been part of our VRC family for nearly a decade. He came to us more than 9 years ago, carrying the physical and emotional scars of a brutal past in dog fighting. The cats apart of our Kajun Kitty Sponsorship Program, are unable to go to one of our transport partners or be adopted out due to being feral, or not candidates for an easy adoption. These guys live in our HUGE beautiful indoor/outdoor catteries (we have three)

We’ve also been in the thick of one of the largest TNR projects we’ve taken on—over 50 community cats. 🐱
This week alone, we successfully TNR’d 6 cats—4 males and 2 females.
That means healthier cats, fewer medical risks, and most importantly, no more kittens born into hardship.

Every cat is fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before being safely returned to their colony and dedicated community caregiver. This work creates long-term change and real stability for these cats and the neighborhoods they call home.
