We're thrilled to share two amazing adoption stories that have truly warmed our hearts!

✨ Finch – A longtime resident and an absolute favorite among our team, this spunky senior gal has finally found her forever home! Her new family already adores her, and we couldn’t be happier for our sweet Finch.

🎉 Bogo – One of our beloved Prison Dogs has officially been paw-roled! He’s left the program and stepped right into the perfect home, where he’s already thriving.

Cheers to new beginnings and tail wags all around! 🐶💛

With the consolidation of our city location to our Assumption Parish facility, we need dog-loving people who want to work with our dogs! 🐊🌿

We have a small satellite facility, tucked deep in the serenity of the swamp—surrounded by woods, nature, and of course, plenty of dogs who need love and care. 🐶💚

We’re currently looking to fill full-time positions at this location. If you’ve got a strong work ethic, a love for animals, and don’t mind getting a little muddy—this might just be the place for you!

🍎🥬 Meet Fruits & Veggies – A Bond Like No Other 🐾💕

This beautiful bonded pair, both 5 years old, were surrendered to our Assumption Parish location in Louisiana. And while life threw them a curveball, they’ve held onto the one thing that matters most—their love for each other. 💞

They’re both extremely shy in new situations and when meeting new people, but trust us—these two are amazing.

✨ Fruits (aka Fruity) is the more reserved of the pair. She takes a little time to warm up, but the second she sees Veggie getting love and belly rubs? She blossoms. 🌸

✨ Veggie is the social butterfly. She’s the first to come say hello, flopping onto her back for belly rubs like she’s known you forever. 🥰

They lean on each other for comfort and confidence, and it's truly heart-melting to witness. They're also friendly with other dogs, which makes them even more special.

These two would thrive in a calm, country-style home where they can enjoy the peace of nature, the bond they share, and a human who’s patient and kind.

Adoptable Senior Spotlight

All dogs featured in this section are apart of our Senior Dog Program which means: all dogs adoption fees are covered and all of their medical care is covered for life.

Rubu is looking for a home where she can be your one and only—no other pets, just you and her, living your best life together. She dreams of porch sittin’, weather complainin’, and being your shadow during slow mornings and peaceful evenings. ☕🚗

At Villalobos Rescue Center, we are dedicated to provide lifelong care and love to dogs and cats that face significant medical or behavioral challenges , making them unlikely candidates for adoption. Our Sponsorship Program offers a meaningful way for our supporters to contribute to the well-being of these “lifers” through monthly donations. While becoming a sponsor, you help us with the essential care, as well as medical costs.

🐾 Meet Big Willie and River:

A Love Story from Villalobos Rescue Center 🐾

Big Willie, a gentle giant, was found in rough conditions on the streets of New Orleans. While his physical wounds have healed, his emotional scars have left him uncertain around strangers. Recognizing his need for a stable environment, we’ve made Villalobos Rescue Center his forever home.

During his time with us, Big Willie met River, and the two have become inseparable. River was born into our care at Villalobos Rescue Center. Due to severe anxiety and trust issues, she has faced challenges in becoming an adoption candidate. Despite these hurdles, River has formed deep bonds with her dedicated caretakers and, most importantly, with Big Willie. Their connection has provided River with the love and companionship she desperately needed.

Their love story highlights the importance of patience, understanding, and the transformative power of love in rescue.

Meet Valkyrie! 🖤🐾

Some souls are too wild, too untamed, too ancient for the world they are born into. Valkyrie is one of them.

She was never meant for a backyard. Never meant for chains. Never meant to be misunderstood. But fate has a strange way of testing the strongest spirits.

Born of the wolf’s blood, she was purchased from a breeder—brought to Texas by someone who soon realized the storm he had welcomed into his home was far greater than he could weather. By the time she was a year old, she had outgrown his world, her instincts clashing with the life she was forced into. Work schedules changed, patience thinned, and soon, Valkyrie found herself bound to a post, a chain tight around her neck, the fur worn away where metal met flesh.

She was frightened. Skittish. A shadow of the powerful being she was meant to be.

But warriors are not meant to be caged.

🐾Stepping up for the Felines of Assumption Parish🐾

While we're known for rescuing dogs, somehow a few crafty cats have schmoozed their way into the VRC family... and we’ve officially fallen under their spell. 😺💛

Out here in the rural corners of Assumption Parish—surrounded by swamps, woods, and sugar cane fields—cats are often forgotten. With zero sheltering options available, they’re left to survive as strays in rough and lonely conditions.

But VRC couldn’t just stand by. We’ve launched a full-blown TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) community program to give these kitties a shot at a better life. It’s officially kitten season, and we are working our tails off to prevent more litters while making sure our community cats are happy, healthy, and cared for. 🐾✨

However, we’re in desperate need of TNR supplies—traps, carriers, food, and more. If you’re able to help us out with supplies or a monetary donation to cover vet care, we would be furever grateful. 💚

Looking for a tasty way to keep your pup chill and happy? Try these easy-peasy frozen yogurt dog treats! 🐾❄️

Steps to Deliciousness:
1️⃣ De-Stem & Dice – Remove the tops and white centers of fresh strawberries, then dice into ¼ inch pieces, wash the blueberries
2️⃣ Assemble – Add the strawberry and blueberries bits to silicone molds (fun shapes welcome!) and fill the rest with plain Greek yogurt.
3️⃣ Freeze – Pop them in the freezer for about 4 hours, or until completely frozen.

🎉 That’s it! A simple, refreshing snack your furry friend will love.
