DID YOU KNOW?
October is Pit Bull Awareness Month, a time to educate the public, dispel harmful myths, and shift perceptions about this misunderstood breed. We all know the stereotypes—mean, aggressive, dangerous—but do these faces look anything like that? We know how loving and loyal pit bulls truly are, and now it’s time to share it with the world. Help spread awareness this month!
Slobbers and Drools,

THE ADOPTABLES
Brusley
Meet Brusley, an 8-year-old petite lady with a heart full of love to give! She needs to be the only pet in the home, but her affection and playful spirit will more than make up for it. Brusley is a pro at cuddling and can spend hours playing ball. She also enjoys entertaining herself with her favorite squeaky stuffed animals. Could you be the one to give this sweet girl her forever home?
Ariat
Meet Ariat, a 1.5-year-old lab mix who’s full of life and always ready for the next adventure! Whether it’s hiking, swimming, or going for a car ride, he’s up for anything. Ariat is great with other dogs and loves meeting new people. When it's time to relax, he's just as happy to Netflix and chill on the couch. If you’re ready for pure happiness and a loyal companion who never says no, Ariat is your perfect match!

VRC SPONSOR PROGRAM
Meeks
MEEKS NEEDS A SPONSOR
Dubbed “Pretty Eyes,” Meeks is a strikingly tall and smooth dog whose piercing yellow eyes are truly captivating. When we first met him, his shy demeanor was paired with a curious fascination for those around him. Now safely rescued, Meeks has revealed his true gentlemanly nature. Despite his spirited sister, Bunny Belle, who can be quite the handful, Meeks remains patient and affectionate with her and adores his pack members. Your sponsorship will support this elegant and kind-hearted soul as he continues to thrive in a loving environment.
To sponsor Meeks, or any of the other dogs in our sponsor program, click below.
VRC dog sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia.
HAVE YOU HEARD AT VRC?
We’ve been bombarded with a bunch of adorable new faces at the rescue, and things are moving faster than we can keep up! Right now, we don't even have time to get these cuties up on the website. So, we’re hoping that by sharing their pics on social media, they’ll get adopted quicker than I can log into VRCPitbull.com 😉 In the meantime, you can check out our Facebook post for more information about each dog here: Piles of Puppies and Littles for Adoption!!!
I’ll be adding more info to each picture as fast as I can, but if one of these little ones catches your eye, don’t wait—fill out an application here: Adoption Process, and we’ll get back to you ASAP.
And just a little heads up...we’re planning an East Coast trip to visit one of our rescue transport partners soon, so...hint hint 👀
Stay tuned and thanks for your support!

WEST VIRGINIA WAYSTATION
From Prison Dog Program Manager Dani:
The last you heard about Jenna and Trojan, they were just beginning their time in the prison program as our new trainees. Since then, they have both settled in beautifully! Trojan, in true Shepherd fashion, adores every person he meets, leaning into each encounter with joy and affection. Jenna, though a bit more reserved and shy, has formed a strong bond with her trainer, who she now relies on for confidence and comfort. Both are making fantastic progress in their training!
We are also thrilled to announce that Wawkalak, Crop Top, and Olaf have all been adopted! Jenna has a meet 'n' greet lined up for next week, and if she finds her forever home, Trojan will be the only dog left before we welcome a new group of trainees into the program.

With Fall making a slow approach here in West Virginia, the weather has been hot, but that hasn't stopped the kennel kiddos from making the best of the last weeks of summer. We've been walking, hiking, playing ball (thanks to Couzan and Dutton's virtual adopters), and even enjoying water toys sent in for Dutton. Although each of the kiddos here is adoptable and would like nothing more than their own place to call home, they definitely aren't doing too badly if you ask them.
