We Need Fosters!

Join Our 90 Dog Fiancé Program

Want to be a part of VRC?
Live in the Midwest or East Coast? We’re currently looking for volunteer dog fosters!

Fostering plays a crucial role in our mission—it helps us learn more about each dog’s personality and needs so we can find them the perfect forever home. Plus, it gives them the love and comfort of a real home while they wait.

This is a volunteer opportunity (but yes—you do get a special 90 Dog Fiancé t-shirt!) and we cover ALL expenses for the dog while they’re in your care.

If you’re interested, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll send you an application. This helps us learn more about your situation so we can make the best possible match for you and the pup.

And don’t worry—if you fall in love with your foster, you’ll get first dibs on making it official!

Join the VRC family and help change a dog’s life today. 🐾

OUR TRANSPORT/ADOPTION VAN IS SICK

Splinter just came back from riding shotgun to the West Coast and back delivering new dogs to their forever homes but he just informed me that our van is on its last leg...or wheel?

With over 200K miles on it, there are so many things wrong with it, and at this point, we cannot afford to buy a new vehicle. So we're going to try and put "band-aids" on it and keep on going!

We have a rescue to rescue transport scheduled for NEXT WEEK, so we need to get the Black Beauty up to par asap! If anyone can spare a donation to put towards her repairs, it would mean that you would be helping several dogs get to their foster homes, forever homes, and to one of our transport rescue partners.

Please help us get these dogs to their new happily ever after! Our donation link is: https://vrcpitbull.com/how-you-can-help/donations/

This is kinda urgent, and whether we can leave next week will depend on donations to help us get back on the road

THIS WEEKS HAPPY TAILS

We are so excited that two of our pups made it to their forever homes on the West Coast with previous adopters!

Stew

Stew was a country dog and now he’s finally found his forever with former adopters of ours!

Goblin came into our city location, and also found his forever home with former adopters!

Goblin

Congrats to our former adopters, and two of our amazing pups in finding their forever homes! We can’t wait to get updates on how they are doing.

These are the moments that all of us at VRC wait for!

THE ADOPTABLES

These dogs are currently available for adoption.

If they have been “virtually adopted” that means that their adoption fee has been covered by their virtual adopter for an approved application.

Mama’s Boy
I AM VIRTUALLY ADOPTED

One of the gentlest souls you’ll ever meet. This sweet boy loves people and thrives on human connection. He’s dog-friendly too — preferring a calm companion who still enjoys a little fun. Mama’s Boy is always up for an adventure and absolutely loves the great outdoors. Whether it’s a walk through the woods or lounging in the sun, he’s happiest outside with his people by his side.

Lula

Say hello to Lula, a sweet pit mix with three legs and one giant personality! This beautiful girl came to us with an old injury that left one of her back legs shorter and painful—so we gave her the relief she needed by removing it. Now, Lula is thriving and ready to live her best life!

Tokie

Tokie may be a senior gal, but don’t let her age fool you—she’s got plenty of pep in her step! Whether it’s diving into the water for a good swim or hopping in the car for a cruise around town, Tokie is always up for the next great adventure. She’s the kind of dog who will match your energy, keep you laughing, and be your ride-or-die for every journey.

VRC SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

At Villalobos Rescue Center, we are dedicated to provide lifelong care and love to dogs and cats that face significant medical or behavioral challenges , making them unlikely candidates for adoption. Our Sponsorship Program offers a meaningful way for our supporters to contribute to the well-being of these “lifers” through monthly donations. While becoming a sponsor, you help us with the essential care, as well as medical costs.

VRC dog sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia.

Worm

In 2012, we took her from the rural/country shelter of Assumption Parish. We hadn’t moved out to Assumption Parish as of yet and we were just getting our feet wet there. She was one of the first dogs we pulled from this location. She was a mess. Wouldn’t walk on a leash, was not very social, laid right down in the water when we tried to hose out her cage, and just refused to move period. This little brindle Pit mix had just given up on life.

Jump ahead to the present — Worm has been with us for many years. We still don’t understand why she’s never been adopted, but she is deeply loved by all of us here at VRC.

Now a senior, Worm is living her best life with one of our long-time employees, Angela. Together, they spend their days going on adventures, snapping photos, and enjoying plenty of swim time — Worm’s absolute favorite thing in the whole world!

To help Worm continue living her happiest life, we’ve added her to our sponsorship program — so she can receive love and support from the outside world, too.

Some souls are carried by the wind, destined to chase the horizon until they find where they truly belong. Dorothy was one of them.

She began her journey in Kansas, a place where the skies stretch wide and the storms whisper secrets to those who listen. But like the winds of a great tempest, she was swept away—rehomed to Louisiana, where fate would soon take an unexpected turn.

But even the most untamed hearts have their weaknesses, and for Dorothy, that weakness was food. It was Mariah who outwitted her, luring her into safety with a simple promise of a meal. And so, her journey continued—to Texas, to a new beginning, to a place where she could learn that not all who catch you wish to cage you.

To learn more about Dorothy and how you can sponsor her journey, check out her profile below:

THE VRC BOOT CAMP IS READY TO ENLIST!

Many of you remember our former volunteer program, "Bully Boot Camp." It was a huge success, and we gained many long-time employees out of it, not to mention some kickbutt volunteers. It's been years since the BBC was active. So now we've created the VRC BOOT CAMP!

Our new volunteer program allows you to stay with us for up to a week. We will supply you with free housing and lunch every day. In return, you will get to walk a day in our shoes, caring for some of the most amazing, loving dogs on the planet.

For more information and to see about signing up, email: [email protected]

Dog Walks- Saturdays from 9am-12pm every week!

Our Assumption Parish location is a beautiful country atmosphere about 1 1/2 hours outside the city of New Orleans. Here on our 13-acre Sanctuary location, we are offering a dog walking volunteer program.  We also have play areas where you can sit with a dog to relax and enjoy some cuddle time.

You HAVE to make a reservation ONLY one week prior to your visit.  We cannot accept reservations any further out than that due to the extreme weather changes and the possibility of scheduling conflicts. AT THIS TIME, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO HAVE VOLUNTEERS ON SATURDAYS.

For more information or to ask questions, be sure to email us: : [email protected].

Thanks so much for your interest and get ready to be “dog-tired.”
