Straight Outta Swampton- Hello 2026

Issue #54

Happy 2026 VRC Community!

We’re back with a new edition of our Straight Outta Swampton Newsletter!

It’s no secret that 2025 was a year of drastic change and incredible growth for us—especially after consolidating our New Orleans location and putting down deeper roots in Assumption Parish. Change isn’t always easy, but it was necessary, and because of it, we’ve grown stronger, more focused, and more determined than ever.

To every supporter who stood by us through the long days, tough decisions, and growing pains of 2025—thank you. Whether you donated, joined our programs, shared our posts, volunteered, sent supplies, or simply believed in the mission, you helped carry us through. We truly could not have done this without you.

Here’s to what we built together—and what’s still to come.

As you know, Animal Planet is no more.

So those episodes you’re watching of Pit Bulls & Parolees are re-runs, and no we do not recieve royalties from them. We do not own the show, which means we recieve NOTHING from them being watched.

There have not been any new episodes or seasons—and there won’t be. BUT times have changed… and so have we!  That means we have two awesome ways to keep up with VRC, Tia, and the dogs:

🎥 OPTION 1: YouTube (FREE!)
If you’re looking for FREE content—dog videos, updates, lives, podcasts, and more—subscribe to our YouTube channel!
✔️ It’s actually free
✔️ Watching helps raise money for the dogs
✔️ Tons of different content to binge

Seriously… just hit subscribe and enjoy 🐾

 OPTION 2: Patreon
Want behind-the-scenes access and closer, more personal content?
Patreon offers multiple tier options where you can:

 •    Follow along with Tia herself
• See all of our online web series (including our very own spin-off of Pitbulls and Parolees, Life with the Underdogs)
   •    See exclusive updates
  •    Get content you won’t find anywhere else!

Different platforms. Different vibes. Same mission: helping the dogs.
Choose what works for you, or do both—we’re just grateful you’re still here! 🐶💜

VRC SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

At Villalobos Rescue Center, we are dedicated to provide lifelong care and love to dogs, cats and wolf-dogs that face significant medical or behavioral challenges , making them unlikely candidates for adoption. Our Sponsorship Program offers a meaningful way for our supporters to contribute to the well-being of these “lifers” through monthly donations. While becoming a sponsor, you help us with the essential care, as well as medical costs.

VRC sponsors get access to a private Facebook group moderated by Tia, and our Program Coordinators Katie & Jenna.

💌 When you become a sponsor, you’ll receive:
• A heartfelt welcome letter with a virtual postcard of your sponsored animal
• Access to our private Facebook group run by Tia, Katie, and Jenna where you’ll get regular updates, photos, and videos
• A link to your sponsor animal’s personal Amazon wishlist, where you can send them goodies (bonus: shopping through our Amazon storefront gives us a small commission, too!)

To learn more about our Sponsorship Program and meet the animals in need, visit our website here: https://vrcpitbull.com/how-you-can-help/sponsor-a-dog/

Come read their stories, because even if they can’t go home, they can still be loved. (And you can always sponsor more than one!)

We have 37 wolf-dogs that call our Texas location home.
All of them are in need of sponsors to help with their daily needs, medical care and enclosure maintenance.
Each wolf-dog has a story that deserves to be heard.

Our wolf-dog location has their very own LinkTree, so you can find all the places you can follow them, how you can donate, and what supplies they need.

Kajun Kitties:
YES WE EVEN HAVE CATS!
WE NEED HELP WITH OUR TNR OUTREACH!

We’ve officially begun TNR on our largest colony yet—with at least 50 community cats. This week, we successfully got 4 females and 2 males spayed/neutered.

It may not sound like a big number, but every journey has to start somewhere. Each cat altered is one less litter struggling to survive.

We work especially hard during the winter months to TNR community cats before kitten season begins again. Preventing pregnancies now means fewer unwanted kittens later—and healthier, more stable colonies overall. This is slow, steady, lifesaving work… and we’re just getting started.

Hattie (Sponsor Cat)

Become a Sponsor https://www.vrcpitbull.com/dogs/hattie/

Minerva (Sponsor Cat)

Become a Sponsor https://www.vrcpitbull.com/dogs/minerva/

We have a special LinkTree dedicated to our Kajun Kitties, and our TNR outreach. You You can find where to sign up to sponsor, what their wishlist needs are, and what we need to keep our TNR efforts going.

Check out our Kajun Kitties LinkTree here for all things needed to help the cats of VRC:

REMEMBER TO PAWS:
Pet Loss Grief Support

This year at Villalobos Rescue Center has been a heavy one.

We lost many dogs. It felt like the losses came one after another — week after week, another goodbye. Senior dogs passing is an inevitable part of rescue, but that never makes it easier.

The loss was taking a toll on our staff. Employees would lose a dog they had cared for deeply, only to lose another shortly after. Many were also grieving the loss of their own personal pets. It began to feel like we couldn’t catch our breath.

Katie and Jenna, both Villalobos employees, created a Saturday morning show called Good Morning Villalobos designed to highlight our dogs and all things VRC. During this difficult time, they introduced a segment called Rainbow Bridge, where they shared stories submitted by pet parents honoring the animals they had loved and lost.
When that segment was opened to the community, something became very clear.
The response was overwhelming.

People were still grieving pets they had lost years ago. The pain was still there. The love was still there. It reminded us of something we’ve always known — people love their pets like family, and when they lose them, they need support. Our staff needed it. Our community needed it. That realization led Katie and Jenna to create Remember to Paws

Remember to Paws is a grief support platform and foundation that partners directly with Villalobos Rescue Center to sponsor hospice dogs and help cover end-of-life care and costs. In addition, they also help fund end-of-life expenses for members of the community who need assistance during this incredibly difficult time.

End-of-life care can include final veterinary visits, euthanasia, cremation, and meaningful keepsakes such as paw prints, nose prints, or a lock of fur. These moments matter — and the cost can be unexpected. No one should have to face them alone.

Because of the Remember to Paws Foundation, end-of-life costs have already been covered for 11 dogs and 3 cats in just a few short months.

Katie and Jenna share that being able to give back to the rescue they love so deeply, while also supporting families and fellow staff through some of their hardest moments, has been incredibly meaningful.

To every supporter, donor, and Patreon member of Remember to Paws — thank you. Because of you, this partnership continues to grow, give back, and help make an impossibly hard moment just a little bit easier.

To our staff at Villalobos: thank you for caring for our dogs as if they were your own. It has been a difficult year of loss, but we made it through together.

We encourage you to go check out our partners at Remember to Paws and support the important work they are doing for our dogs and our community.

As we close out 2025, we invite you to….Take a breath. Honor with love.
And 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝑷𝒂𝒘𝒔 — for all the pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🐾

Thank you for being part of the VRC family and for supporting our partners at Remember to Paws. We could NOT do the work we do without you! ✨

Rescue isn’t easy.
It’s messy, emotional, exhausting, and often heartbreaking,
but it’s also full of hope.
And that hope comes from you.
You are the reason we can keep going, even on the hardest days.

From all of us at Villalobos Rescue Center- the humans, the dogs, the cats, and everyone with paws and muddy feet, thank you for being part of this family.
We’re so grateful to have you walking this path with us.
